Another fun time was had this year at LeMans palooza 2008. 6 builders, 6 finished models and a couple of partial builds. It was a fantastic race, and the building was fun and nobody developed tourettes :D

Danny "Ferrarifreak" Edwards finished first; I had a model that was almost too easy to finish in 24 hours so I spent the day very lazily building and then providing comic relief  I claimed early on I'd get my car done by 9PM, I blew that by a mile (it was more like 4:30 AM), and Mike Edwards made sure to remind me of that multiple times as he finished his 333SP at around 2AM, well before I had my much-simpler Jaguar finished.

Eric Cole built a Hasegawa Denso Toyota 88C, Brian Venable built a Tamiya Porsche 936-78, Mike finished a Formula Canada/Scale Productions Ferrari 333SP, Danny Edwards finished a Monogram Ferrari 275, Henry finished a Porsche GT2 and about 1/2 of a Chapparal, I finished my Fisher Jaguar D Type, all 33 parts  . Sort of...I want to do a few detail and fit tweaks to it not under the pressure of "finishing" w/in 24 hours...though technically per instructions and parts it's all done.

Great pictures and I had a great time, well worth the lack of sleep.

Wish you could have been there Wayne...

It was a really good time...was great having Eric come up from south of the border too. Thanks to Deanna for the cookies too!:D

Six models finished from beginning to end in 24 hours and no animals(that I know of) were hurt or molested during the event(although Mike Lawrence did stop by).

The race was great...coming down to the final hour....the Pug team has a lot to learn form this one if they're to beat the seasoned champions.

Wayne, we missed you!

I forgot to mention in the first post, on Friday afternoon while driving north Eric and I saw a silver '09 Nissan GT-R on I-75 driving southbound through Cartersville. That car looks fantastic on the road...dunno if it's a magazine or corporate car; they're still at the ports and not at the dealers yet, and won't be until sometime in July. We usually see something cool driving up to Brian's. We also spied a few (wish there were more) cool street rods from Goodguys driving northbound yesterday on our way back to town. One in particular, a dark blue '32 highboy, looked especially tasty...hope someone got some pics at the show!

Looks like a fun time was had by all. Some great builds guys!

Sorry I missed this one. The palooza here was canceled last minute as Dirk hurt his back.

I had a great time as always guys. Bob, you kept us going with the comic relief too. Thanks to Brian for hosting us again. Although Bob I technically finished first with my 275, there really wasn't much to the kit. Just the time painting and drying. And it was good to see Eric back up this way again. Thanks guys.
Danny

Oops, sorry, I messed up and edited my post since I mixed up your names! I'm still in a lack-of-sleep fog from the weekend :D

You picked the perfect LeMans palooza subject w/the 275P. I'll be building that one for one of the paloozas too...but I think the gauntlet has been thrown down and next year I have to step up my game, shut my trap , and build something that's got a lot more than 32 parts :D

i was more worried abt getting smacked in the face with brians 936 then finishing my 333most of the time.

it was a real blast, i cant wait to do it again.

I think the stress of having to build a Porsche instead of a Ferrari was getting to him !!!

Looks like a great time! I forgot abut this until the last minute. Since next weekend is consumed by the IPMS show and the BMX show I had to get my house ready for carpet; so my 24-hour 'build' consisted of me painting my bedrooms. Hope to make it next time. What 333SP kit is that? Turned out beautiful.

That was the Formula Canada kit. BTW Downie, was that a picture of Eric's mess on his table that I saw on the Fotki site???? hehehehehe

Yes, that was my mess... if you can call a single neat stack of all of the decal paper and trimings a mess... LOL!

....But wait... I think there is another picture that he took where one piece of my used decal paper was still sitting in the middle of one page of my instruction sheet... hehehe.

You're not making any progress if you don't have a mess piled up. Right Eric!!! hahaha
