I am absolutely speechless, honored, humbled, and eternally grateful. So I will just tell the facts. I have recieved the late Augie Hiscano's demonstration lathe that he brough all over the country to the shows. I recieved the a couple tools, 3 chucks, the lathe, pictures from Mrs. Hiscano of Augie and his projects, and a letter from her. In one of the chucks is a wheel Augie was working on right before he passed away that he planned to bring to Salt Lake City. I hope to make Augie proud, and I cannot thank the Hiscano's enough.

Later I will find away to upload the pictures I recieved from Mrs. Hiscano to just share some of Augie's work with the world as he is sharing it with me.

Well my boy how does it feel to actually have a piece of history in your very own home? I know you're still having to pinch yourself every minute. I can only imagine what machined parts are going to start showing up now! Congratulations.

Pretty soon he won't be able to attend modelpalozas because he'll have to take a lathe, drll press, polishing wheel, stamping press, die cutter, welder...etc.:D

Shouldn't that have went to the first winner of the "Augie" award? :) Just kidding Mike. What an honor. I'm happy for you. I have no doubt you'll put it to good use!

I was born in Coral Gables, and came to Georgia Tech in 1959. I still had lots of vacations, summers and off time in Miami through the mid 80s. At least once a week I would go over to the Orange Blossom Hobby Shop. Gaston Bernal (Aeromaster and Eagle Strike decals---airplanes) worked the plastic models area and Augie Hiscano worked trains. Augie did work the slot car track for a time when my uncle and I raced slot cars there (my uncle won a lot). Slot cars went away and he worked the train section. I saw Augies cars in the display case and was amazed by the glassy finishes.
I can still see Augie standing behind the front counter.
