Did anyone happen to see the car auction this past weekend? there were quite afew awesome cars on the show. The largest and most impressive being the General Motors Parade of Progress tour bus goin for a cool 4 Million. Wish i had that much $$$ to throw at a museum piece.

I knew that would bring big $$ but I had no idea it would bring that much; there are others out there unlike the $3M car last year. That $1.1M Chrysler D'Elegance was a steal ;)
Would be fun to spend money like that on cars! It's also fun to listen to guys bitch and moan to no end about how horrible it is that old cars are too expensive because of the "arrogant fools w/too much money" spending it at B-J. You know damned well every guy bitching would be there in a heartbeat if they could afford it. "I can tune a carburetor and waah waah those jerks with too much money make it so I can't afford an old car waaah waaah".

That's why I collect 'em in scale. Not quite as satisfying, though....

Bob, you're not talking about Mr. Siduous on the HHMB, are you? The other HHMB opinion that drove me nuts was the one individual who whined about not wanting to watch cars being sold that were not affordable to him. What kind of a car enthusiast is that? If I limited my car enthusiasm to only vehicles I could afford, I would only be able to attend Yugo shows! As John D. aptly put it, that's why I build models!
I spent a lot of my Saturday watching B-J. Even the wife was fascinated with it. She really freaked out over the $600k 2007 Shelby. I told her to consider that that buyer spent $600k on build 001, whereas for the very next car on the line, the buyer will have spent 1/10 of that. Has anyone heard what the sticker will be on the Shelby? I can't wait to see what the dealers ask for the "Limited Availability" surcharge. Bet it's at least $10k over MSRP!

I saw some of it. Musclecars (especially Hemi cars) were going for $450K and up. I saw a rare 1970 Hemi Cuda convertible got for 2 million bucks! In '73 - '74 you could have got those cars dirt cheap.
I never got to own an original musclecar but in a few months after I get off my probationary period at work (6 months here) I am planning on getting a Dodge Magnum R/T. I test drove one already. I like it.

Can't remember who exactly, but several people were whining and crying. Some enthusiasts, eh?! They think like socialists but I'll bet there's a letter of the alphabet like we saw on "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" on the back of their cars  :D
I think the Shelby will probably be just a hair under 40 grand before the dealers have their way with the customers. Hmmm, maybe socialism isn't such a bad idea  :D
