I was chatting with a friend about our IROC project, and sent him a link to this picture that Henry provided when we each got our kits.

He mentioned that it would be cool to replicate that photo, and I thought it was a great idea. Maybe not with the buildings and such, but to get those 12 cars together and snap a good photo. I'm not exactly sure which 3 are missing, I think black and 2 reds/pink?
We would have to get them all together before the driver/sponser/number decals go on. The Porsche script decals would have to be on though.
I am posting to see if you guys think this would be feasable and worthwhile. We're only gonna have this opportunity once I think.
We need to set a deadline for having them all done I think June/July should be about right.
What say you?

I don't think we'll be able to do that, as cool as it sounds. Or we take artistic license and use the colors we have, minus the two pinks and the black.
Here's why...
We still haven't figured out why there are two yellow ones in the pic (and on a pic on the transporter), light yellow in the back row and the regular yellow on the left side. You can see both in this pic, and the sand beige. I suspect one car may have been repainted or replaced w/another at some point, likely one of the two green cars...the lighter lime green or the darker grass-green shade. Or the yellow one in the very back is actually thelime green one. Old pics can be a problem as colors aren't true. The two pink cars and the black car are missing from the photo.
My suspicion is that the light yellow car in back wasn't used, and the grass-green version (backup car that Scott's building) replaced it after these pics were taken. Then later they came up w/the three other cars (the light pink and the raspberry pink/red shade) and black, and then relegated the two green cars and the black to backup status. W/o having access to someone who was involved back then, these are answers that are open to conjecture. The picture of the cars racing shows all the regular colors running the race, except for the sand beige car which is out of the pic.
Conversely, the articles may be incorrect and the first heat had the lime green car and the light yellow car as backups w/the black car. Who knows? They aren't shown in the racing picture because they didn't race. And two of the cars that did race aren't in the garage photo.
We could get the photo done substituting the light lime green car for the light yellow car. But Kevin's working on that car, and it's in St. Louis. So timing is an issue as well. Logistics for this are a nightmare!

I can't believe that this or something close can not be do-able.
I'm not saying that it has to be 100% accurate.
We'd need headlights and new wings to make it perfect. If a car or two needs changed there'd be no harm.
If all of the cars are painted and assembled by July, we have 4 months to take this photo and complete decaling them.
This is a ONE TIME ONLY opportunity, and I'm sure it's possible to get it done with a little cooperation or arm-twisting. :)
