Sorry, I didn't take photos all day long. I didn't get my camera out until about 8 AM this morning

We had a blast as usual (good thing there weren't any open flames, with all the soda and junk food being consumed...) and 6 models were finished. One of those was a detail-intense Ferrari F430 GT that was started earlier. The rest were started (we allow primer before the race) at 9AM on Saturday when the race started on the east coast.

Builders: yours truly, Ferrari 330 P4 NART; Henry Trent, Corvette C6R & Porsche 962; Wayne Webers, Alfa T33 1967 LeMans test vehicle; Mike Edwards, Ferrari F430 GT; Danny Edwards, Fisher Ferrari 512. Brian Venable DNF Ferrari 250 GT Sperimentale; Bob Cline DNF Ford GT40 (only joined us for part of Saturday).

Next year I'm building "Lucybelle" 1958 Testa Rossa

Models were mostly finished in order:

Danny Edwards: Midnight
Henry Trent: Midnight
Bob Downie: 1AM
Mike Edwards: Sometime between 1-5:30AM
Wayne Webers: 8AM
Henry Trent (model #2): 9AM/checkered flag.

We allow a model to arrive in primer. Parts can be ready for paint. Fun is the most important aspect. Bright sunny weather outside helps as there's only one spray booth and 7 builders; I did all my painting outdoors, and the sun works as a good dehydrator (and we had four inside the garage running until after midnight).

My work area; had wireless internet before the neighbor pulled the cord.

Wait. What's this doing here? It's not on sale until June 25th in Japan. Hmmmm...

Well, I tried spell checking my post and it dissapeared so here we go again. Thanks to brian for hosting the 24 hour build again, it was a great time. Even though he couldn't stay through the 24 hours, bob kline showed up on Saturday as well and contributed to the junk food diet. I suffered from a bout of getting older, forgetting a placed some winglets on a paint stick. This created a 30 minute "caution period" while everyone helped me look for the "two toothpicks" which were holding the parts. Luckily this happended during the 6th hour of the build so the ribbing only lasted another 18 hours or so. The Alfa turned out OK but the windscreen and headlight covers suffer the same problem as do many of the early resin kits - they were horrible. This along with the missing winglets almost caused an "on course" incident with a hammer and a DNF. Maybe next year I'll build a plastic kit instead of resin - any bets.

18 hours? Oh, it'll be more like 18 months :D

"What are these? (pointing at winglets that are painted and attached to tape, so you can't see them easily, they're near the mirrors)" - Bob

"The mirrors" - Wayne (in garage by the dehydrator farm)

(go back inside the basement, sit down at table, Wayne sulking and quiet)

"Wait a minute. Are they the same winglets you dropped on the floor earlier?" - Bob

"Yes." - Wayne

"Get you donkey's backside back out there and look at the stick, the're right there on the tape!!" - Bob

"Where are they?" - Wayne

"RIGHT THERE!! I already showed 'em to you and Brian!!" - Bob

"Oh. Damn. I was looking at the mirrors." - Wayne

"So where are those two stupid toothpicks?" - Bob

"Don't be surprised if we stop at a rest area on the way home and you come out and find the car gone" - Wayne

:D:D

Bob was sitting at the stoplight on 285 in the downhill stretch at Spaghetti Junction. He had just passed the Doraville cop sitting under the pine trees next to the shuttered Doraville GM plant, this time they were in a yellow Dodge Sprinter van in DHL livery. Bob looked in the rearview mirror and saw the Sprinter flying towards him. The Sprinter smacked into the back of the Honda at a high rate of speed. Bob was impressed that the 1st generation Fit he was driving held up a lot better than the one in the crash test he saw on the internet earlier on Friday.

"Why did you do that?" - Bob, on the cellphone with Wayne, Wayne happened to be both the Doraville cop and the Sprinter driver.

"You were in the way!" - Wayne

"You know I'm going to sue the living **** out of you" - Bob

(above sequence from Bob's dream on Friday night before the race)
