Just received this Airfix 1/24 Maserati Bora kit in the mail. The excitement lasted only 1 minute. Please correct me if I am wrong or just me being too picky.....I think the kit is not in scale. Body shell looks like being squeezed/compressed from top and the wheel base is actually shorter than Merak. The signature rear lower vent where exhaust pipes come out is way too narrow. The proportion is off when compare to actual car photo. Disappointed!

Hmmmm...I'll have to check my MPC Bora vs. the Testors Merak I have.

Bring it over to compare to my Revell, which looks better. Also the Merak, I have an Airfix of it.

Hoping to find a Revell at some point, and likely if I do it shouldn't be terribly expensive.

Who made the Testors Merak? Gunze? Airfix?

Gunze makes(made) Testors Merak!
Completely identical kits except box & molding color.

The Bora made by Crown isn't too bad....but I don't have the Merak to compare it to.

I finally gave in & went all the way on eBay to get this Revell Bora kit:

Sure enough, Revell & Testors(Gunze) both have dead on body proportions. The Revell Bora is an older kit & requires much prep. The molding plastic is soft & thin so should be easy to work on. Overall I am very happy with Revell's Bora. With correct body shell proportions, I can overcome the rest!
Above being said, I think I'll stay away from Airfix kit for a while.
