Hi, Guys.

I saw that Advance Auto Parts is having a buy one/get one free sale on Dupli-Color primer. Is this safe to use on models? If so, which would you recommend: White? Hot Rod Gray? Hot Rod Black? Gray Primer Sealer? I'll be (eventually) using Tamiya Gold, if that matters.

Thanks!

You might get several different answers on this one...

Personally I don't like Dupli-color primer...it doesn't build or sand as nice as Plastikote IMO. Plastikote is harder to find though.

Dupli-color's primer sealer works very well, I tried some just recently.

As far as Tamiya's gold...it needs to go over white or silver....if put over gray it will mute the color substantially....and potentially result in an icky color.

Thanks, Dino!

That's the kind of info I'm looking for. I wondered if I should stay with a lighter color primer.

And you aren't kidding about PlastiKote being hard to find. So far I've been to Pep Boys, Michael's, JoAnn's, Target, and Hobby Lobby, and no one has it. The PlastiKote website says that Hobby Lobby carries it -- go figure!

There were a couple automotive stores in Marietta that the website mentioned. I guess I'll check them next week.

I did pick up some 400 and 600 grit sandpaper, as well as some Bleche-White, for when my resin pieces finally arrive. Baby steps...
