After hearing recommendations on DPD, I decided to try it on my '66 Ford "Yellow Banana". The car was painted with Tamiya rattle can yellow over generic and Tamiya primers (no clear). I had previously dunked it in 91% alcohol for about a week and it removed the color coats and about half of the primers. In the past, I've had problems removing primer with Super Clean, oven cleaner, etc.

Not wanting to leave it in the alcohol any longer to see if it would remove the remainder of the primer, I put it in a container with the DPD and let it set for about 3 days. I can't say how it works on the Tamiya color (since it was previously removed) but with a little help from a toothbrush and running water, it removed the remaining primer(s) down to the plastic. The product is a semi-paste, like commercial paint remover, so it sticks to surfaces without running off and at about $3.00 for a 12 oz. spray bottle, it seems like a bargain.

After trying unsucessfullyto find it in Kroger's and WalMart, I found it on the Ace Hardware website. The local (Atlanta Rd.) Ace was kind enough to order a case and I bought 2 bottles.

If history is any guide, more of my paint jobs will be getting "the treatment", so I'm sure I'll have experience with the DPD on complete paint jobs.
