I can't let Dave have all the fun building Revell Ferraris, and I can't let Brian and Bob have all the fun customizing the 612, so I've started this project. I was going to keep this to myself 'til it was done, but I really suck at keeping secrets. :D

I have cut the roof off and started to modify the interior and body to fit the new convertible boot. The boot it from the Tamiya Honda S2000 kit. It fit the size and shape of the 612 surprisingly well. I don't plan any major modifications other than the removal of the roof. I'm considering a 2 tone paint job like the 612 that was at this years Detroit Auto Show. Not the same colors but same style.

I think using this paint scheme, and bringing the top exterior color into the interior will make for a cool looking rag-top.

I wish there were more pics of those 2-tone 612's. There was a metallic red w/metallic gray or black sides at the Detroit show.

Even though that top boot fits the car dimensionally, I don't think it fits visually...when a Corvette or a Solstice can get away w/a contoured tonneau that hides everything, I'd think Ferrari would do that too. Or maybe recess the tonneau a bit more to diminish the height of the top stack.

Anyway, great start on it! Looks like it would be a perfect ride for cruising Monaco :)

Thanks for the input. I also got some feedback from Brian, and decided to ditch the S2000 boot. I will be making a solid smooth cover.

It still needs lots of work, but these pics show a smoother more flowing look. I may have to section the top of the rear seats off to make them taller and make the transition nice and clean.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about :D

Your 2-tone idea is ideal for this car. Yep, the rear seats will need to be raised somehow.

You'll need to come up w/a scale Auto Show model to display w/it ;)

I've decided to use part of the S2000 kit after all, i have trimmed up and leveled out part of the cover.
That part will help make the transition where the rear seats sit too low, and give it a cleaner converible look.
