Remember all the problems I had w/paint blistering on my Scaglietti? I have found the culprit.

Each time I fixed a blister I filled it w/Tamiya polyester putty to level/feather in the area. They kept coming back. I assumed the problem was from below the putty and paint.

I'm working on another model, an old/rare Revell Porsche 914 and I puttied most areas w/Tamiya polyester. Guess where it blistered when I put color coats on and a slight bit of heat? Yep.

Primer is porous enough not to trap the gas (so it didn't happen in primer), but a color coat seals it in.

I'm throwing this crap out. Takes too long to dry and causes blisters if I put it in a dehydrator. The three areas on the model where I used Evercoat to speed up the process are fine. Areas where I used styrene/Ambroid and superglue and kicker for minor filling are fine.

Lesson learned. Beware of this stuff, I could have a bad batch but I'm not trusting it to my models ever again.

Second and hopefully final color coat after wetsanding and no dehydrator is devoid of blisters. Thankfully the Testors Grabber Orange lacquer is fast-drying and doesn't need a dehydrator. Pics soon. Way too much bodywork in this thing to get it ready for paint to have paint problems

sorry to hear about that Bob, the only putty that i seem to use now is Testors Contour Putty, it fills in great, dries fast, sands out good & havent had one problem since i started using it 5-6 years ago.

Yeah Bob, all I use is Evercoat. Love the stuff. Sorry that happened...but hey, it gives me something to tease you about.

Friggin' Tamiya...you'd think getting blisters might be a bit more fun  ;) :D

Oh well, the blistering has stopped so the penicillin worked.
