Finally found this "lost" kit in my basement and having just finished the Skag I wanted to build something a bit different and unique-well, not as unique as my secret project  . I have never seen one of these built any better than a glue bomb. I knew it could look good built w/care.
This kit is not for beginners
It's perfectly good for those willing to deal w/it's 70's era Revell engineering. Body proportions and details are all pretty good. I'm using a Fujimi parts-kit 911 for wheels and a few other odds and ends.

Modifications include:
Attached the very thin/fragile windshield frame to the body-it's separate; I think because they also offered a competition version of this kit w/o a windshield or just a small cut-down screen. Before attaching the frame I had to cut away the top of the dash pad from the body so the glass would fit. I filled the frame's seam and added vent window structure/detail from a parts-box Mustang, and then enlarged the openings significantly to match that of the 914. This made the frame itself strong, but the header at the top of the windshield was very fragile and I eventually snapped it-I had intended to tape it to the windshield to prevent it but forgot :( . I had to glue the targa top in place to prevent further damage and frayed nerves. I intended the top to be in place anyway so no big deal.
Rescribed the door lines and front fender lines in the areas of the A pillars; they were missing or completely incorrect.
Added weatherstrip to base of side glass.
Replaced most B pillar chrome surround strips w/Evergreen.
Widened decklid w/styrene strips.
Made panel between taillights taller w/strip styrene so it would properly seat w/the decklid.
Final assembly will be fun; the engine cover and decklid pivot separately, the structure of the engine room is partially visible inside the B pillars, so assembly will be tricky as it needs to be precise for everything to fit. The Suspension/chassis/interior look relatively easy...that remains to be seen.
Paint is Testors Grabber Orange. Seems to match a color I remember seeing on them.
I'll need to raid the 911 kit for an inside rear view mirror and wipers; neither are included in this kit though it does have a side view mirror.
