Hi All, I picked this kit up at our 2005 show, actually, I bought it from Dr. Bob and couldn't wait to build it. The kit is Tamiya's 1st 1/24th scale Automotive kit and compared to their later kits is very simplified to the point of being more like a toy.

My build is basically out of the box. The only real modification I made was I sanded off the molded on drip rails, because they were so poorly molded, then I replaced them with styrene strip. The decals were really brittle and the first one I attempted cracked before I could even get it off the paper. Thankfully, Wayne had a set he was willing to donate to me... Thanks Wayne!!! and I was able to complete the model. It's painted with Tamiya spray can Pure White. There are a lot of things you could do to make this a really nice kit but I was just in the mood to finish something for the shelf.

Looks awesome

Toy-like kits from the 70's can be fun to make look like they're modern ;)

For a minute there I thought this was the 1/12. Great work Eric! The big and little will look great side by side at the show.

The Porsche theme is gaining momentum!

Really looks like a nice clean build, Eric. How did those decals fit around the rear wheel fenders? Mine were pretty rough. Looks like you took the chrome off the wheel rims. I left it on mine, but sprayed flat black on them to tone it down and weather it. Good job on the model!

Looks great! It'll be a nice companion to your large scale car.

You're on a roll finishing up these racing Porsches.

Thanks everybody....

Ken, the biggest problem I had with the decals was getting everything to line up and come together around the rear end. I had to touch up the corners with paint. The wheels were left with the original chrome and I sprayed a coat of Testors Dull Coat over them.

Although it a simplified kit and many of us like a lot of parts, it came out looking really good. It's just a body, no engine or interior even?

Eric:

Again, another excellent build. Looking forward to seeing it in person.
