I just got back from a business trip to LA......for the non Southerners that's Lower Alabama. On the way back we stopped at the Barber Motorsports Museum just outside Birmingham. After two hours I realized that I would have to come back just to take everything in. I had heard that it was only motorcycles which there are plenty of but as you can tell in the pictures the cars that were there well represented. And oh yes the track, while we were there the Porsche driving school was running. All I can say is WOW!

Wow! Nice pics and nice subjects! I had no idea they had such a significant collection.

Wow! That definately looks worth the trip. Their website doesn't do the car collection justice.

You have me all excited! I'm loading the car on the trailer right now for my first track day at Barber. We're going over today so that we can tour the museum. I can't wait!

I couldn't even start to take pictures of the bikes it was almost overwhelming I would have run out of space by the 2nd floor.
If you notice the lowest level was the restoration shop and you can only imagine how spotless the machine shop was. We were also told that only 2/3 of the collection was out on the floor there was another 400 bikes yet to make it to the floor.
And the web site does not do justice to the museum at all.

Well, I got to tour the museum and it's unbelievable. I'm not a bike guy, so the building and the shops in the basement interested me most. The shops look like an F1 shop with the separate workstations. Quite a layout, especially whne you realize it's one guys vision and his toy. Great track too. Very technical. It's only 1/10th of a mile shorter than Road Atlanta, but the straights are much shorter. It's full of elevation changes, all kinds of turns, and even a mini-corkscrew like Laguna Seca. The grounds are spotless. They even had a team of people walking around the paddock with brooms and trash collectors the whole weekend. Amazing. There are huge art pieces scattered all through the infield. It's a showplace.
