Custom Multi-Colored 1949 Ford

These are pictures of my recently completed multi-colored 1949 Ford Custom. I started with a Jimmy Flintstone resin body and used an AMT/Ertl 1949 Ford as a donor kit.

The car is chopped, dechromed, slammed and has these custom features: frenched and tunneled headlights, a resin cast custom grille and 1957 Corvette taillights. The wheels are ModelHaus Chrysler wire rims with 1957 Chevy tires. The bumpers are stock 1949 Ford items.

I used Krylon Mystique Blue-fade-to-Purple primer and color basecoat. I airbrushed (second time, ever) an acrylic clear coat and polished it with Meguires Scratch-X.

The interior is stock and painted with tan Duplicolor Vinyl paint.

It was great seeing this at the meeting! This is the first time I've seen results from the Duplicolor Mystique, and they look pretty good.

This looks great Steve.

I'm not a big fan of those color changing paints, but on this car it works very well. Nice custom modifications. The flared tailpipes are too cool.

Your customs are stellar. This is just great. I just love the taillights on this car. Amazing. Really! Cool from top to bottom.
