I got a cool doorprize at the June meeting, a neat little Revell AG BMW Z1 convertible donated by Norm Newcity. Norm always brings some great doorprize swag :)
It's a really cool kit, for some odd reason I had never gotten one nor ever seen inside the box. It's a Revell Germany kit, and is full detail. Even the half-doors slide up and down into the rocker panels like the real car. Hood and trunklid open to show off detail.
The Z1 was never imported to the US; though there is one on display at the BMW Zentrum in SC.
I look forward to building this kit; though it's a stinker in quality. Every major component in this previously sealed kit-body, windshield frame, decklid, hood, interior, and chassis, is warped. Each part will require some very careful bending and bonding to get it all straight. I can't fathom why they'd make a kit so detailed and then run the production line at light speed making all the parts so damned difficult to work with. Had they slowed down the quality of this kit would be pretty amazing (I had similar issues way back when I built the BMW 750 IL). I'm still surprised how cool it is, and wonder why I never bought nor built one. A hardtop conversion a-la '06 M Coupe is calling...:D
