Both of my sons have been bit by the modeling bug, and I've been helping them learn how to make thier visions come to life so they can have some cool cars.

My youngest son chose to build the Revell Honda Civic, and he has accomplished a lot. He completed the engine, chassis, and interior all by himself. I will upload pics of that tonight.

He removed all of the mold lines on the body, and smoothed it out with sanding sticks and sandpaper.

He had me paint this car for him. He watched and learned, and next time he will hold the paint can. I think he's ready. He chose Tamiyas 'Park Green' for this tuner. He has some cool plans for the rest of it.

My oldest son Nathan chose this kit to work on. It's a Tamiya Toyota Celica. I've had this kit in my stash for a long time, and when he said he liked the car, I didn't hesitate and handed it over. (I hope he doesn't eyeball one of my Ferrari kits after this) :) He will be coming to the LeMans modelpallooza, and will work on this there. Our goal is to have all of the parts painted this week, so that he can concentrate on assembly only, and have a completed car during the 24 hour build as well.

He chose Tamiyas 'Metallic Black' for his celica. In person this color is a bit darker, and less silver.

Those look great! My models looked like total garbage when I was a kid, but then again I had zero help/encouragement either, I was on my own w/my models unless I was building w/one of my friends who lived behind me.

I snagged another of those Celicas, $6 and change at Hobby Lobby wasn't bad at all. I still need to build "The Ultimate Celica".

Your sons are becoming model masters quickly. But what else should we expect when they have a father like you? Im looking forward to seeing more.

Is that front fender on the Celica custom? Looks JGTC to me, but I like it.

We now welcome 2 new grasshoppas to the fold!!! Looking cool. They're just right too, when they're ready to dive in, we gotta let them have at it and jump in. I waited till Mike was ready and asked to work on them and he's right there with the best. I never benefitted from a mentor, so it's great to be able to help them get started. Not to mention all the quality time you get to share with them doing something so cool!!!!

Thanks fellas, we completed some more tonight, and will show that soon..

For now here is the Civic insides as assembled by Dustin. He would've used paint if I'd of let him, but I want to teach him the basics of assembly before diving into painting.

It has only one seat as it's a "race" car.. :)

They look great. The revell kit can be tricky, but it looks like he's got the hang of it and is coming right along. It must be great to have a teacher like you. Tell 'em to keep it up!
