I just finished a M&S hobbies IMSA 962 trans kit. I used Strada Sports Coke
decals and some M&S wheels to make the kit for a better effect. I hope you enjoy

Thanks to Matt for the Pics

That car looks sweet. I love that wheel set. It really sets off the build.
Very nicely done.

If it had the right background behind it to make it look 1:1 it sure would look like the real thing too. But it shows up real well. Great job!

Looks awesome Henry - that is one SHARP car. Do you have an extra decal set? You'll need it if I tell you something...

Have a coke and a smile :)

Wrong decals? What a JOLT :D

He'll have to quit modeling and take up R/C :D

There was conjecture about the decals when they were being applied. The model rocks.

I think the side stripes are on backwards... but I don't have any reference

Reference is easy to find. The stripes appear correct.

They are indeed backwards - I don't mean that Henry put them on wrong, I mean they are drawn wrong. Here's the decal sheet, notice that the two stripes that have the silver strip are identical; they are not left/right handed. That's not the problem, the issue is that the ends of the stripe are drawn to fit the front and rear wheel openings but they will only match up on the right side of the car. There is no way the decal can be applied to the left side of the car properly with the ends keyed this way.

:D I had dinner with Chris in K-Patch. I show him my car. He said it is correct.
The reason is Coca-Cola demands it be this way. One side will look correct
while the other side looks wrong.Chris said that while he was working at
Screen Art.That the graphics department suggested that Coke flip the
design to give balance to a project they where working on.Coke said, NO!
Screen Art was told do not change our design.Just apply the graffics. So,
on objects with 2 sides one side will always look wrong or backwards.
Also, all of my reference shows it to be this way. Thanks, for thinking about
me Bob.I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
Henry

I think Bob was talking not about the design being mirrored L-R but how they trimmed the ends of the decals around the wheel openings (they should have simply made them a bit longer and given trimming instructions). The left side of the car the decals end in a fashion that doesn't really fit the wheel openings well; that is evident on your model. That's pretty easy to fix. I'd say 99% of aftermarket decals that have stripes that go over curved or compound surfaces are drawn incorrectly. Even when one makes templates the shape of the final decal is still likely to need tweaking (my recent M Coupe a good example; the rear flags were still a bit "off" even when I had drawn them to a tape template that had been applied to the body). Anyone who prints decals should also be printing them out prior to delivery on an Alps or other printer so they can be actually applied on a prototype. I'd say 99% of the model developers don't do that. It's extremely time-consuming. I like how Quick Skins gives extra stripe decal material in the stripe's colors on their Corvette GTP car so the builder can make repairs.
