First is a Fujimi 964 Carrera 4. Painted in Gunze acrylic, not my best paint job but a good example of the Richard Petty IROC color used in '74. Curbside kit. This thing was nasty dirty! Cleaned up pretty well. Probably the most "blah" example of Porsche 911 history, the 964 is my least favorite of all 911's.

Here's Hasegawa's 944 Turbo. Hard car to photograph, lots of dust! This one was quite dirty as well. Cleaned up nicely, and a Sharpie did a good job of fixing a few "burn throughs" in the paint. Testors MM classic black; really it's a very dark gray...Tamiya gloss black shames this. At one time this model was nearly the pinnacle of my ability. Now it looks like a well-used car ;)

Here I've added some new rims to an older model. This is Tamiya's Porsche 996; they dropped this kit when they made the updated GT3. Paint is a weird blend that I can't remember what I used. Formerly wore some Pegasus rims that just didn't fit the character of the car. These rims are a couple sets of front wheels/tires from the Revell 612 Scaglietti. They look a lot like stock Porsche rims from later 996's and even on a few 997's. I think the model looks about as good as it ever will w/stock rims.

The last pic most accurately shows the color. Trying out Adobe Photo Deluxe, a better editor than the Visioneer Paper Port editor I was using that really did a bad job compressing the images.

Here's the Carrera RS I recently spruced up. Paint is Testors French Blue, it's really too dark to be accurate. Neat model, built to look like a 1:1 I used to see when they were new. This model was built in the late 80's.

You're right about those being bland Porsches, but I think you meant 964, not 993. The 993 is actually my favorite 911 variant and the last of the "original" 901/911 bodied cars.

Thanks, just changed the original post. The 964 is so forgettable that I forgot it's name ;)

Not only that, but I insulted the 993 terribly ;)

Wish Tamiya had done a stock 993 Turbo...the GT2 is okay, but I'd kill for a really nice "last of the air-cooled" turbos. The Italeri kit doesn't quite count, and I killed mine permanently w/a quick hurl to the wall :D
