Can't complain at all when a model goes together as nicely as this one, and only took about 8.25 total hours from start to finish :) I guess Hasegawa is becoming the "Tamiya" we used to love with the vintage subjects and nearly flawless execution and engineering. This kit begs to be done full detail though.

No problems w/Hasegawa's kit at all; only problems were created by me or gravity :D I love the old-school look, I hope they do a US style 240Z at some point. I have no reference for the stripe, but it came w/the kit and looked good on it so it stayed. This one will get a "highly recommended" rating in the magazine review.

Looks incredibly great!

That is a must get kit for me...and I hope Hasegawa continues to to kit the classics.

Cool build Bob, I've never seen that kit in 1/24 before. Looks awesome!

Thanks, this particular kit was just released in late May. I hope they do either a LHD Datsun 240Z from it, or even the non-race Z432.

Awesome. Another near perfect, super clean build. Hasagawa has always been pretty good, and has only been getting better. Your build really shows them off.

Awesome looking Z car. I think I'll have to build one of those, too.

:D :D That kit builds so nice, that I hear many SCCA racers in the future.
I was thinking about Pete Brock/BRE,Bob Sharp and PLN driving the
Red,white and blue Cannon cars, and Electramotive's cars by Don
Devendorf just to name a few.:)

Nice clean build Bob. It was good of Scale Auto to send this to you for review......does that mean your back on their Christmas card list?

And Henry your dead on.....the first thing I thought of was a Bob Sharp version.

Thanks, never was off their Christmas card list.

Lots of potential with this kit versus the craptastic Revell versions.

Killer looking Z. Nice job.

Sounds like we need to have another Z themed group build  :D

Ditto. I could easily be convinced to build another one of these kits without the OOB constraint for a review :D

I love Z cars, I'd even build my craptastic Revell kit or my slightly-less craptastic Monogram 280Z :D

ACME historians w/better memory than mine, didn't we have a "Catching Z's" NNL theme one year?

Any other ideas as to a group build? Common theme? Common kit? Race team? (NO IROC!!!!), or unlimited??

Catching Z's was the ACME group build under the Tuners theme 3 years ago if I remeber correctly.

I'm all for unlimited.
I had a friend in college with a black/gold Z with white/black animal print seatcovers that stood out like a sore thumb. That'd be one version I'd want to tackle. :D

Thanks for the memory jog :D

I'd prefer unlimited too. Any style, any of the 1/24 or 1/25 Z kits, the more Hasegawas the better.

Your friend's Z car sounds eerily like something I'd expect out of Bob Holfels' past  :D

I think they all need to be made from one kit, preferably the Hasegawa.

I would agree with that, but built in your own custom way.

You mean I'm going to have to BUY a Hasegawa Z?

Oh, the horror  :D

And here I had the perfect project thought out for my cheesy Monogram 280Z

Okay, I can understand the black/gold Z car reference... but animal prints? Ecchhhhh!!!

I'm all for the Z car build... I don't think it should matter which kit, as long as it's a 240Z and not anything newer like a 280 or 300.

A 280Z should be allowable, as it's an identical body as a 240, just bigger rubber bumpers and larger-displacement engine (not that it matters since it's curbside and so is the Hasegawa). 280ZX and beyond shouldn't be allowable. The way I'd build my 280 you wouldn't know the difference as I wouldn't be using the bumpers anyway ;)
