First off I just have to say.

WOW! What an awesome show.

This year was by far my most favorite Southern Nationals NNL yet. The Porsche - Pony Car theme, which proved to be very popular. Both theme tables were filled to capacity, as were many of the other categorys.

It was great meeting many top-notch modelers from all over the country, and nice seeing many new faces that showed up this year. It was truly a pleasure catching up with old friends, and past show participants. There was so much talent in the show room, and it was surely visible by what was sitting on the tables. I'm still in awe of some of the fine works of art I looked at.

I managed to shoot over 500 photos. I know that I didn't shoot all of the cars on the table, but I tried. The link to the album is below, and it should have some interesting eye-candy in it for everyone, no matter what subject matter you enjoy.

Please have fun browsing the photos, and PLEASE add comments to them if you built the model or have any remarks. It's always great to see feedback or additional info about the photos.

Here are some samples of the fantastic cars you will see inside the album.

Thanks Matt and Paul for all the great pics! There were too many models to keep up with-I'm seeing pics of cars that I wish I had seen in person! The people shots are cool-looks like everyone was having a great time!

Looks like an awesome show! I probably could have gone early in the morning if I hadn't slept so late. By then I was late and had to scoot. I actually did have a car in the show, it's a Porsche, and it's in Matt's pics.

This was the first time I've taken people shots at a model car show and had a lotta fun doing so. Most everyone was receptive to it. I'm sure I missed some. Matt, I'm glad you focused on the cars, since I didn't photograph many of them.

This was our best show ever. We had plenty of help for everything, from vendor move in and out to table take down.

It was forgotten in the shuffle at the presentations, but I want to thank Bob Downie for his hard work in organizing the Porsche IROC ACME build. I'm sure it was a lot like herding cats, trying to get this many builders to stay on track, but Bob did it. As you know, race Porsches aren't one of my strong interests, but I had fun participating, and this forced me to get one done in 2006. Kudos also to Wayne Webers, Henry Trent, and Clay Kemp for their help in this project as well.

Thanks everyone for a great show!!!!

I never really saw the 69 Camaro IROC cars. Did you do one for every color?

We did 12 Camaros in the 12 colors based on the drivers. There was one Camaro painted "backup" green to substitute for acid blue as we didn't have that paint at hand when we were painting. So Steve Linngrenn's Camaro is the wrong color but has the right number.

What are the top ten award winners?

I don't have the full list, bug Jenn about that, she promised to send the electronic copy ;)

From my memory:

Randy Derr's USAC Foyt Camaro was best in show, Chris Chapman got one for his ratrod "Big Bomber" truck, Ken Mouton got one for his 1/12 Porsche 910, Dave Morton got one for his big rig (I think it was a Brockway which was mostly scratchbuilt), Paul Grala got one for his C6, Dirk Joseph got one for his VW crewcab, Clay Kemp got one for his Brut funnycar, I can't remember the guy's name or the model name who had one of the wild showrods next to the IROC display, Chuck Sears/Diehard got one for his Zesto diorama...okay, I'm just missing a couple names here

Eric won Best Porsche, Randy won Best Pony Car, Clay won Best Nascar, I can't remember the guy's name who won the Augie award with his '25 Dodge T-bucket based on a Red Baron (he also won an NNL West "Best of the West" award given by Steve Hinson), the same kid from TN that usually wins best Junior won w/a black Camaro, Steve Linngrenn won the ACME "President's Award".

What a show!!!!!!!!!....The photos were great...thanks Matt for taking so many of the cars and Paul it added a lot to see the people. I am still recovering from the high quality of the cars and the builders....my good friend Larry from up state New York did not stop commenting on the quality of the models and how much he enjoyed the people and the show .....he already committed to next year.

To the club members.....GREAT SHOW:D :D :D

That was one awesome show! It was hard to decide what to vote for as there was so much great stuff there. I brought my friend Earl. He entered his big rigs. Anyway that was the biggest show he'd ever been too. He bought a few kits (4) of those big International off highway dump trucks and some resin bodies. We'll be going to Birmingham in March.

Okay Gang, I am a little behind the 8 ball but a couple weeks ago someone sent me a link to the fotki sight. I took a quick look and was pleased to see so many pics. I book marked it so I could get back to view them. It was indeed a great show, I appreciate the fact that so many pics were taken I even found 5 of my 6 entries in the album. In the pics I saw many models that I don't remember seeing with my own eyes. Thank you for that as well.
