View Full Version : Clash of cultures: Mixing a Dodge w/a Nissan...Magnissimo? R-34 Magnum? Am I nuts?!

The answer is yes :D

I never intended to build a Revell Magnum OOB; I'm not in love w/the Magnum front end (which Dodge is fixing for '08 very nicely) and my kit came missing one headlight bezel. I was going to do a front-clip conversion w/a Chrysler 300 to do a 300C SRT-8 Touring that the Europeans get (but we don't  ). The AMT front clip is too wide for an easy conversion, so I set out to find another idea. Then this hit me as I have an extra Skyline. The parts fit pretty well w/o major modification. They're both high-performance beasts. So let the party begin :D . New front clip already added. I'm also going to use the Skyline aero bits, taillights, wheels, RHD dash and front seats. Paint will be silver w/Nismo stripes, black wheels.

Totally works....but it needs something sport syling wise done to the rear to balance what you got going on the front.

Can you Nissanize the tail lights somehow?

"....I'm also going to use the Skyline aero bits, taillights, wheels, RHD dash and front seats. Paint will be silver w/Nismo stripes, black wheels."

Rear spats (aka Skyline areo bits, see above) and middle part of Skyline rear bumper will also be added.

I'll go back into my corner now :D

I like the body additions so far. It should look awesome once completed.

I picked this kit up a few days ago, and was excited to start it, but the front bumper was short shot. I ordered another one from Revell. I was gonna do a box-stock build just to get me back in the game. But now I guess I'm gonna have to chop the top or something. :D

Hey Matt, I've got an extra front clip if the Revell deal doesn't come through in time.

As Brian noticed, the Magnum body already looks chopped. If you chop it any more it'll look like it's got mail slots for windows :D

It's fun working on this; it's not what I expected to do in the first place, it just sorta happened and things may change as I progress. Hopefully more pics/progress today.

I forgot my Magnum body today when I went to Wayne's  Had all the little parts but totally forgot the body :D

My other project did make it, my Revell Upclown STS-V got it's lambo doors shimmed to fit (no putty needed), glued in place, and pseudo door handles. It's ready to paint  I took a short movie of us goofing around, not sure how to transfer the clip :D

Bought a gravity feed Iwata Eclipse today too

I now have eight airbrushes

An update!

With Brian suffering from Nismosis, I had to get this one back on the front burner. Plus all the OOB builds lately made me miss the custom stuff.

Taillights finally worked out, panel lines mostly okay, revised rear bumper a bit to match the new corners, removed some Magnum trim...getting closer to being able to paint

A bit more progress; the body is painted silver w/one clearcoat. I'll be masking/painting the lower aero pieces gunmetal and then doing further clearcoating. Took awhile to get to this point, and the bodywork will never be as precise as I'd like

Not sure if I'll leave the hood slats silver or paint them flat black; their surfaces aren't really smooth even after block sanding so flat black might do a good job of hiding that.

Reminds me of a joke I heard yesterday about a psychic convention. They didn't need a website or a flyer or information where/when. If you were psychic you would know all the details :D

Thanks for the comments; I'm finally enjoying this build again after getting past the "Cobalt" hump that sidelined me for about 18 months

I don't want to sound conceited , but I'd kill to drive a real car like this. Looks better than both the R34 and Magnum! Imagine the commotion when driving into a cruise night or "cars and coffee" or some Mopar or Nissan show

Looks good on the web but you really need to see it in person. what's next a R35 touring sedan?

Nope. I just want to do an R35 with more of the concept car's appearance. Someone may do a convertible, who knows? Not me though!
