Hey guys, our HobbyTown just starting the Tamiya Laquer thinner so I picked up a bottle. Just wanted to know if any of you have used any of it and how it compares to other thinners we all use. I know each one of us has our own preference as to what we use. Mine tends to be Martin Senour slow reducing thinner which I use for my MCW and COBRA paints to top off the bottlw with which flows down very smooth. Also I use Gunze which does the same. The WallyWorld tends to be a little hotter and dries quicker. So I use it mostly for cleanup. Just curious as to where this Tamiya falls into the mix. Thanks for any feedback. Danny

It's basically identical to Gunze Mr. Thinner.

What Brian said :)
I can't read Japanese, but my nose says it's identical to Gunze's thinner. I've only used the Tamiya to thin some TS paint for airbrushing, and it's perfect for that.
While it's many times more $$ than body shop or Wal Mart lacquer thinners (if they're bought in gallon size), it's much easier on plastic. My Gunze thinner is the only stuff that I've found that would make my Black Gold paint flow like an enamel; with two different grades of automotive lacquer I found I had problems w/blushing (badly) and/or etching of the plastic underneath. The clear was a nightmare; while I could avoid problems w/the color coats any time I laid down a smooth wet coat of clear either it would blush or etch. When I mixed Gunze Mr. Thinner w/the clear, it was perfect-it laid down nice and smooth w/o blushing and w/o making every mold line reappear. Therefore if I ever have a lacquer paint that needs just a bit of help to flow better through the airbrush, it's w/the Gunze or Tamiya lacquer thinner. Cleanup using the old stuff.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll still use my usual methods and incorporate the Tamiya in when appropriate.
