I'm sure this will be the most popular thread on this forum in ages :D

I got Revell USA's newly-reboxed Ferrari Superamerica yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised to see it molded in white. It's also molded in Poland, perhaps their plastic is better than China's ;) .

The premier issue of this kit was for the rest of the world in Revell Germany's flat box, you may have seen them at Hobbytown (where Eric got one that I've seen). It's molded in red and gray, not a good combination because not all body parts were on the red tree

So if you are a true skinflint that waited for the Revell USA version (my kits were $9.15; Model Roundup has 'em for about $12 and the retail of the German issue is $22.00), you are in luck. Ignore the horrible boxart. What posesses people to take such terrible photos of model cars at ridiculously low "guardrail's eye view" angles that flatter only a handful of 1:1 cars is beyond me. People who go by boxart alone may think the model is a POS when it isn't.

I've done a test-fit of the working roof, interior/chassis to the body, everything fits and the roof mechanism works well, and there are no unsightly gaps; it should look just as good closed as open.

Many annoying sink marks on the body. Fujimi's body is cleaner, but Revell spanks 'em with much more detail. The Revell interior has far better seats and door panels than Fujimi's as well.

Here's one for you Bob. Being the impatient idiot I am I bought my ROG kit at HTown at a ridiculous price only to find the body molded in RED and the hood molded in GRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! HUUHHHHH???? I haven't seen any of the USA kits yet but i'm sure i'll end up with one for some stupid reason!!!

I may have some detail photos if you need them Bob.
I got my kit today from MR. $9.15? ya tightwad. Mine was 17 with shipping.
Box art car looks like a hopper. That'd be cool at concours...hmmmm.
Is 599 out yet? Hope it has Challenge wheels. All new 599 orders builds after April will be stuck with the satan icon wheels until ? fall? Unknown why, suspect 430 Challenge build will use up wheel production capacity maybe? Real 430CS due @ Frankfurt.

Thanks, I think I have what I need from the 'net, but I'll let you know. It will be awhile before I can build it; too many irons in the fire. Had to put the model out of sight and out of mind  :D

The 599 kits all have the fugly pentagram wheels (Revell AG's is out, haven't seen it in person). Fujimi will likely spit out a second variant w/sport seats and Challenge rims as they did w/their F430's, and I'm sure they'll kit the F430 CS as well since it's so close to their Challenge version.

Guess I'll finally see the 599 either this weekend at Amelia Island or Monday at the Atl. auto show.

I saw a couple SA kits today at Wal Mart in Tucker. Not sure of the price; as Diggy said Jack has 'em at Model Roundup. Boxart model is hucking fideous.

Firehawk will need a towel as he's never seen a 288 GTO in person and it's one of his grails...:D

Actually there was one at the dealer bout a year ago I finally got to see. Still, to this day, my favorite 'modern' era Ferrari. I'd take it over an F40, F50, Enzo. My mid-era fave is the 512 Boxer, and my early era fave is the 250 California.

Anyway back to topic, I was really surprised, as were many, at how well the fliptop (ehhhhBOB) closed and fit on the SA. No warpage, very tight fit, esp. after you consider some paint thickness.

Should I tell Bob H. that I got to drive a 288 GTO once? No radio or anything in the comfort vain,But who needs a radio when you have that sweet sound behind your back.

I remember that car; saw it on Roswell Rd. a few times. Once at full throttle :D It did have something in the comfort vain; I remember seeing it at a car show w/thick black fuzzy sheepskin seat covers

Thanks Bob!! I found the SA at Wal-Mart for $9.00 for some odd reason!! Now I can build the triple-black version that was sold on Ebay a few months ago!!:)
