The NNL East show was held last weekend and I had the opportunity to attend the show…it was at the same facility that it was held at last year that I attended with Henry, Wayne and Bob. I sensed that the attendance was down significantly as well as the number of models presented...the latest published numbers support that feeling. The entrance fee increased to $12 a person (last year it was $10) and the theme of the show was “Deuces Wild” and “Lucky Seven” …any vehicle with the number seven. Thirty-two fords dominated the category but vehicles with the number seven was very eclectic It may have been a result of the quality of the vehicles at our last show as well as the quality of the builds we show each month at our meetings but I only saw a few models that jumped out at me. NNL South flyers out already when I passed through the front section and I brought more. With regard to the vendors it was the usual suspects and I have a list of the vendors for the club. Both Scale Auto and Model Cars Magazine (Greg) were in attendance and I took photos of the cars when I saw their card requesting to take a picture. When you look at the photos below you will notice an absence of models that are generally built by the window side of the club….this was not on purpose…there just where not that many and believe it or not I felt that there was a hole at the show because of it. Going on my third year into this hobby and attending NNL East for a second year it helps put into perspective how fortunate we are in Atlanta for the high quality of builders participating in the ACME group. Enjoy the photos……:D :D :D

Official numbers showed a 22% decline in models, and a 12% decline in attendance. It sounds like next year they're moving to a new venue w/more space-the rent at the PAL building went up by 1/3 this year and it's always been tight on space. I don't know if a new venue will help raise the numbers, but it will make for a nicer experience...hopefully.

Surely they've had dips in attendance at that show before(and I don't mean just ACME members).:p :D ;) :)

And don't call me Surely :D

I think last year was a fluke, attendance and model #'s this year are more typical of what I remembered from past history.

I've gone through a bunch of albums, the only model that really knocked my socks off was Gary Kulchock's Enzo, which we saw on his Fotki album last week before the show. W/o the ACME crew and the onslaught of several very prolific A/F members that was there last year, I can understand how much lighter the import/sports car and road race areas must have been.

Their main theme next year celebrates 100 years of the Model T. Woohoo, that's a hot one.
