Fotki is slooooooooowly adding my pictures, damned idiots changed their upload procedure again  but anyway, here's the link to the pics I took. It was a fun day at the track, Eric rode w/me, we met Scott and later met up w/Ken Mouton; Brian, Hal, Danny and Mike were also there from up nawth. The blue GT40 Mk I is a car from Greenville, I've seen it on the street there and nearly soiled myself when I saw it  :D Probably the coolest looking street-driven car that I've ever seen

We saw nearly every IROC color on a variety of Porsches there; we blew it on the orange (not red enough), yellow (too pure/bright), aubergine (not dark enough), beige (too dark). We did pretty darned good on Scott's green, Mike's blue, Gulf Blue, even acid blue. We didn't see the pink/magenta/lime green colors. So many Porsches...Rennsport will be awesome

Lots of great cars, racing and awesome weather!

I let my Fotki account expire, I never had any luck with that joker.

Son of a @#$%%, I never saw the BMW 3.0 CSL. grrrrrr!

I agree it was an absofreakinlutely great day for me and Mike anyway. No way in my wildest dreams did I think i'd ever see in person some of those pieces of art. The 962 were so sweet, all the group c, the Porsches, the Trans Ams. I was tempted to 5 finger discount pieces of the nose of that Rothmans laying behind the transport. The M/D Trans Am Mustang is a must build!! The Tiger Porshe!!! And to get to actually get to see them in some friendly competition, albeit gingerly I might add. We about soiled ourselves when we saw the Ferrari and Williams Renault till we looked closely and realized they were knockoffs. Well done I might add. WAY too much fun, a day out with friends and cars does good for the mental health!! I'm really disappointed I couldn't catch up to Lynn St. James though. She one of my all time heros, right up there with Garlits, Prudhome, Petty, Andretti, Allison, Muldowney. Anyway this is a must attend for me from now on. I'm hooked. Good to see you guys there to.

That M/D Trans Am Mustang was a Bad A** car. Very fast and sounded really good!! I enjoyed watching all 4 of the Trans Am Mustangs duke it out.

I quit going to the Mitty a while back because the turnout was so bad. They've obviously improved it immensely since the last time I went. It was a fantastic day of looking at cars, seeing the races, hanging out w/friends.

The only thing I miss about the "old" Mitty would be the $15 admission and free infield parking :( They used to charge extra for paddock passes, now you get "free" paddock access but you pay to park.

Yeah the Mustangs got a rise outa me big time. Man I miss the 'ole Trans Am series when it was in that period. We rushed back to try and get closeup pics of the M/D and as soon as they pulled back on the paddock it went straight in the trailer.... POOOOH... If anybody had some good closeups of it in the paddock i'd like to see them so I can start planning my buils. I only got shots at speed on track of it. One cool thing happened in the Hot Wheels pit, We were oggling over it and the guys in there asked Mike to help them set the front bonnet on it and latch it!! he about messed himself and jumped in there and did it. Hal took a pick of him doing it!!!! He's gonna post it on his racing site and tell them " See here I really do work for Hot Wheels " !!! Then when it wrecked we blamed him and told him it was his fault and that he probably didn't latch the hood properly!!!!! hehehehehe

In your album Bob, pics # 54 and 55, what is the little white car in the background? It was a bad little car on track.

It wasn't a Mazda :D

Looks like a TVR, but I'm not 100% sure. One of my favorites on the track was that Lotus 47 (Europa). We also saw a few good "near misses" when they were doing parade laps and people would come to a stop at the bridge and people were exiting too hot out of the chicane

One of the Porsche 911's, a yellow/orange one that looked almost like an IROC car dropped it's drivetrain at turn 5. When it went by on the flatbed the entire engine assembly was sitting under the car...ooops

Thanks for posting the photos. I wanted to go, but wound up going to the Southernats. The green 66 Mustang GT is nice, and it sure looks familiar. It's also good to see that they're allowing those GT40 replicas compete in that series. I also heard that the old Glenn Bunch AAGT Hemi Challenger was there.

Ouch. Yeah we were at the top of the hill and the Shell 962 was going into the turn and one of the other cars dove under him under braking and ran the Porsche off to the outside in the grass and dirt!!!! Such a bonehead move to try and pull off to put such a historic and expensive car in danger. Luckily the Porsche was heads up to narrowly miss any contact. Seemed after that he just rode around trying to stay outa trouble and save the car, which I don't blame him!!!!!

Also what years did the white and green Jag run?? I'd like to see some shots of it in action since it never hit the track while we were there.

Not trying to be a knowitall but Bob's correct...the little white coupe looks to actually be a Griffith Mk1...which is an early sixties TVR Grantura with a 260 or 289 Ford. The guy I used to work for had a MK2 which was a 289 hi po car and those things were quick.

That was one funky looking car! It reminded me of an old AFX slot car, it was pretty bizarre looking.

That's why you don't see many of them..they pretty much handled like an old Thunderjet which was no where close to an AFX or G-Force car. I know the one Chuck had was bent up once after an autocross crash.

So that Challenger was there? It's hard to miss big, red, loud kinda slow through the corners.

Whatever the little thing was it would haul the mail!! And yeah that Challenger looked wild. The grille, tail panel and c pillar was all that resembled a Challenger. But that HEMI screamed don't mess with me!!

It looked like a complete handful to drive! I would think one of the original Challenger Trans Am cars would pull better lap times, and they look a lot better.

The 44 car usually resides in the Sebring Museum. It ran there in 1986, but didn't finish the race, lost an oil pump. It was featured on the cover of the program.

More info, and a pic of it on course here.

I saw that car run back in it's day and if I remember correctly it was designed and built by one guy out of his own wallet. You should have seen it trying to get through inspection back in the late 70's. I kinda have to admire the guy for keeping it up going.

After comparing the pics a little closer, the one at the Mitty may be a later model Jag. Maybe the '87 or '88 version.

AUUUGH! I completely forgot about this! I am so mad I missed this. No wonder all the roads were empty all weekend - I took the VFR out for a 12 hour ride in the mountains and barely saw another car or bike anywhere. Oh well, at least I made it worth it, got a new set of tires on and I scrubbed them in all the way to the edges. Someone please remind me next year!

It was a blast! I hate that we missed a lot of cars but still found some jewels.

Those Mustangs could still hold their own today......and the Dew one was a rocket. The Gold Leaf Lotus was on rails too.

My Fotki is all Fotk'd up also.....if and when it ever comes back I'll post my pic's.

Thanks for the heads up on the pics Matt. Question though, on Bobs and even my pics, there's a noticable difference in the shape of the nose. All the older pics the nose seems more squared off like a 962 and this one seems more rounded and narrow. Any ideas?? Just a later version? Even the pics on up to the late 80's had the squared off nose. Anybody got any clues? Awesome nonetheless.

Glenn is a old friend of mine. He does deserve a lot of credit for his efforts. He and Phil Currin ('72 IMSA GTO Champ) just got back from the vintage races at Mid-Ohio. They lost a clutch on Sunday morning but had the 4th quickest lap of the weekend and first of the fendered cars. He has a great website you might enjoy. He has quite a history. He is just starting to add onboard videos with data. You will see that it pulls over 1.5 G lateral, so it isn't too slow in the corners either and the speeds are crazy. Check it out: http://www.glennbunch.com/ If one of you could build a replica of his Dodge, I'd be interested in buying it for him. He would get a kick out of that.
