"Due to drastically declining sales and very few high-demand new products from the manufacturers, Hobby Heaven will be dissolved as of August 1..."

It used to be that the internet and mail order sites were putting the hobby shops out of business. Now, the manufacturers/distributors are putting the internet sites out of business!

Things that make you go hhmmmmm.........

If it makes you feel any better, the message board there will still be going, and Jack from Model Roundup has been doing crazy business this summer because of Hobby Heaven's inability to fill orders previous to this announcement. Hobby Heaven has even endorsed Jack/Model Roundup as a great place for the customers to go. Bet you never thought you'd see that on the HHMB!

I think many people, like myself, wondered if the Hobby Heaven open house and blowout sale/free shipping afterwards were in reality "going out of business" sales. Indeed they were.

Is there anyone here that remembers our first club order to Hobby Heaven back when we were meeting at my office on Armor Circle? We ordered a case or two of the hot new reissue '63 Galaxies and some other Prestige kits. It was like Christmas when the giant boxes arrived. Sad to see the end of an era with the demise of Hobby Heaven, but that's what happens in business. I think we'll still be able to buy models, and keep on building, especially if we keep from getting too caught up in all the "Chicken Little" stories that are swirling around the hobby.

Sad to see this happen but it indicates the changes going on in our hobby just like other businesses. One thing we can do is to continue to buy from those vendors who support our show year after year. If you are not sure who they are or how to contact them let me know and we can add links either in the forum or on our website.
