Just wanted to say hello to everyone. My name is Jay Ruiz, from NYC now in Orlando. Was a member of the LIARS Club. All my cars have been in SAE and Model Cars Mag. Just a simple modeler and I'm glad to be here.
Thanks.

Hi Jay, I'm the member that just moved to Orlando. Not a lot around here as far as clubs or hobby shops go. There's a decnt shop downtown Orlando called Colonial Photo and Hobby. Great place for paint and supplies.

Hi Eric, little do you know but, you are supposed to come to my house this Saturday :D We have a friend in common....Dirk Joseph. I spoke to Dirk yesterday, we have been trying to hook up for awhile now. I met Dirk at a MAGS Show and we became instant friends. Dirk is the reason why I bought a lathe and mill. As I stated in my first post, "I am just a simple modeler". I build mostly curbside, or as I like to put it "curbside plus". I have had good luck as far as my builds...have won numerous trophys and have had every one in a mag. But after meeting Dirk and his kind words of encouragement I am trying to reach that next level. I must say I was a little intimidated when I heard you were comming over because of the level of your modeling expertise but who better to help me in my growth then yourself and Dirk. See you Saturday buddy I hope you can make it.
Thanks Jay

Welcome!
A modelpalloza this weekend in Orlando? I'm jealous, and crying I didn't get invited. Sounds like the making of OCME. If ya'll start meetings, let me know. I can make it to Orlando in an hour on the bike, or 2 by car.

Hey Eric,Is your lovely bride going to bake any of her award winning goodies? That would be one way to get a club going, just bring some cookies!!!yumyum.Hey! the left coast boys are looking forward to seeing your 1/12 scale 935 Eric.

Haha. Yeah... I haven't even gotten any cookies since we moved down here... LOL. I guess she was only making them for you guys!
Which left coast guys you talkin' about? Now I'm getting nervous.
By the way, I had a great time hanging out with Dirk over at Jay's house. Jay's a cool guy that does some really cool custom work with diecast and now that he has a lathe and has had a Dirk Joseph "Using the Lathe" training session It's hard to tell what kind of things he'll be creating.
Looking forward to Rennsport and our show.

Hello everyone, I just want to say Thank You to Eric Cole for coming over to my house....Eric you are a true gentleman. I have seen and admired Erics models for many years in the magazines, but to actually see them up close and in person was truly amazing! The amount of details, execution, craftmanship, drybrushing, weathering and scratchbuilding was awsum. I also want to say Thank You to Dirk Joseph, once again most of us are all familar with Dirks models and building abilities. He too brought a few of his models over. They range from a "wip" pro touring box Nova to a totally scratch built "wip" drag bike. His abilities incompess, scratchbuilding with brass, machining and vacum forming just to name a few. But one of the abilities that Dirk has that some people may not know...Dirk is willing to help, teach and inspire anyone who asks. Dirk jumped right on my machines and began to explain many things to me. He also joked about how clean my set up was as compared to his. The reason being was "He is a real modeling machinist":D Now let me be clear on what he meant by this and that is....jump right in and get going. I just want to say it was a great day for modeling at the Ruiz residence and I hope we may get to have more days like that one (and with others here in Central Florida). And can anyone think of two better guys then Eric Cole and Dirk Joseph to teach, inspire and just shoot the breeze with over this modeling stuff we all love.
Thanks
Jay and Family
