Nice pics! The black 599 and 430 spider look sweet together.

Great pics, thanks! Your pics show pretty good how poor the quality is of Ferrari black paint. Just like Testors gloss black, it really isn't...just a really dark/dirty gray. The sunlight wasn't particularly kind to those cars. Nice color combo w/the interior color, but I would think Ferrari would use a more true black. Live and learn...

It could be the clear that's the problem, the light has to pass through it first.

Or maybe that Onsite car finishing group is using something which isn't very clear.

I noticed two things when we were talking to him after lunch. The black wheels on his 599 were true black (obviously not clearcoated). Also, the rear bumper of his F430 looked true black, and the rear fender where it transitioned to the lip around the back looked like the paint was thin there. Maybe it had some bodywork done, the rear bumper may have been repainted w/o clear.

It reminds me of my black Riviera model that has Tamiya on everything but the hood which was ghosting and I had to shoot it w/enamel, which didn't match nearly as well as I thought...looks dirty gray by comparison.

Hard to say if it was the clear causing the problem or not, but I was a lot less impressed w/the black 599 than I thought I would be. The Grigio Titanio one was perfecto.

Well, he did say he hit a deer in the 430...so...maybe we didn't ge the whole story.
