I had a vendor table, but was reluctant to part with that many of my models, so I shared my table with Rick Abercrombie. Rick had a ton of die-cast which he wanted to unload at about half price. Rick, aka Ricky-Boy or RB, has built a few models in his day but now tends to collect and is a willing helper at IPMS and ASS (Atlanta Soldiers Society—the figure club) contests. He has worked at perhaps 30-40 local, regional, and national IPMS contests and figure shows. He slept on a cot in the model room as a guard at 2 nationals here in Atlanta (not the last one). He has been the awards announcer at the annual ASS show and would have been the announcer at our last nationals if the slide show had worked. This was his first NNL, and he offered the following comments on his experience (pay attention Henry, Paul, Wayne, and all you Black Shirts):
1. This is the first model contest I have attended where I actually enjoyed myself.
2. As I was unloading my boxes, an ACME member came up and asked if he could help. Very nice.
3. During the show, several ACME members stopped by and asked me how I was doing and if everything was fine. Yes
4. I never heard any whining, complaining, negative comments about another modelers work. Everything was positive, ideas were shared, and everyone was happy (Paul knows there are always a few whiners, but it doesn’t infect the show.)
5. The models were fantastic. Unbelievable finishes.
6. The hot dogs were good.
7. He asked me to get us a table for next year.
If this keeps up, we will need a bigger venue.

That's the kind of feedback that keeps us all going! Thanks for sharing!

Just like a person who tastes a real Chicago pizza for the first time, once you try an NNL you finally see the light...

...now if only we could convert the rest of the rabid IPMS trophy hounds.

Dr. Bob, thanks for this feedback; it makes our hard efforts worth it.

Again I wish I could of made the Atlanta show...and again I will be there next year, so you guys save me a seat...actually 5 seats, as I will have my wife and 3 kids with me. Its good to hear so much great feedback, and I have seen all the pics that some have posted at Fotki accounts..everyone is smiling and seems to be having a great time. I have been thinking the past couple weeks about what I will bring...I want it to be "my best" build....but its good to hear/know that no matter my personal level of skills, that I will be accepted. Thanks Dr. Bob for the review...I am looking forward to 2008!
