Hasegawa is issuing a 1/24 1958 Ferrari Testa Rossa this spring, according to several reliable sources and preorder information from a couple of online merchants. Very good, very unexpected news!

Now we can see what kind of sales Accurate Miniatures could have had! This has got to be the most overlooked, highest demand kit ever in the injection molded plastic realm. I am confident Hasegawa will do it right, too.

I revised the thread, as I had forgotten that it was described so far as a '58. I'm sure there will be more information as the Japanese model companies get back to business after the holiday break.
So true about Accurate Miniatures, but aside from being completely underfunded they don't have the worldwide distribution that Hasegawa has had over the years. Plus this will probably be less $$, even in the US, than an Accurate Miniatures kit. Parts count for the TR is supposedly 131. If it were Accurate Miniatures it would have had 100 more parts, and how many of them would fit?
I can't wait to see if my idea of a 250 GTO roof swap on a TR will work  :D

Believe me, I am very happy it is Hasegawa doing this kit. Their Miuras were excellent, bar the sparse engine detail. But even if they don't produce a fantastic engine in this kit (which would be like leaving the Hope Diamond out of its setting) you know there is going to be a world of resin and photoetch details produced for this. Tamiya would be the only other company I'd trust with this car, except theirs would probably have a huge diecast chassis. Fujimi, I'd be afraid it would be on par with their Cobra.
250 roof swap sounds interesting... wonder how long before we see a Pro Street version with a Viper engine...

Bite your tongue young man.
Perhaps an engine swap from a mid-engine Testarossa, with body strakes filling up the front fenders behind the wheels :D
Or put it on 26's and on a Jeep chassis.

MMMM... Yummy!.
Given how nice the Miura was, I can't wait to get my hands on a couple of these...

AAA Hobby has a pre-order list for future releases and the TR was on it. I seem to remember the price as in the $40s. I signed up. Now I need little Phil Hill and Olivier Gendebien figures.

I'm happy that I'll *probably* get the kit as a review subject for Scale Auto, if Hasegawa sends one for review. This is the best new-kit news I've heard in a long time, aside from some interesting aftermarket stuff. I'm probably the only person on the planet as excited over the new Missing Link resin '71 Hornet SC/360 as the Testa Rossa
I can now build this with Revell's hot new '32 Sedan (even comes with similar wire wheels):

The Testa Rossa is finally showing up on Hobbylink Japan and Hobbysearch websites, with a bit of an added suprise. In addition to the basic kit, Hasegawa is also offering an optional set of photoetched wire wheels for upgrading the kit. Exploded view below on Hobbysearch site:

These wheels are a lot cheaper than the ones from other companies. I can imagine they'll sell out fast, with Ferrari builders buying multiple sets for other projects as well.

Is that $20 +/- (2200 yen)? Is it available in the US or do you need to spend $30 to get it here?

Hasegawa kits are available in the US. The kit is 3000 yen, you can get it from Japan for a bit under $30. It'll be higher in the US, as is every Japanese kit. I have no idea what the US retail will be. This just started showing up on the Japanese websites.

Yep, you can fit anything in anything if you push hard enough. I am talking about engine swaps, geez I can't believe it.
I like that 32 as well.

Yeah, what he said
This is what happens when someone replies to a thread/subject that's weeks old. It's a reply to your Viper engine comment from 2 weeks ago.

That's nice... add some plug wires in that engine bay and it'll be sweet.

Brian has the kit from Hobbylink; looks pretty good, will need some details added, overall it looks good. Body isn't as crisp as I expected after building the 240Z. The wheels look very nice for injection molded-you can see through them, but obviously the spokes will never be in scale that way. I've heard from Jim Drew that the PE spokes are very nice. I need to go visit Pico and get acquainted with lacing my own spokes.

Is lacing your own spokes like tying your shoes? The Ferrari should be in the U.S. this week and shipping end of the week or early next week I know Strada Sports is getting 24 of them and most if not all are already sold.

I've got the kit and the P/E wheels, and can confirm both are excellent. Will bring to next meeting, if I make it back from Kentucky in time...

Sorry, I was mistaken, I received a different Ferrari, made this determination after close examination of the excellent quality of the kit and the optional PE wheels - Mine al mine!!!!!! Just kidding.
