Someone posted this on another board, some great photos of the restored '66 Penske Corvette racer that is the subject of one of Revells new kits coming out this month. These pics should help the builder and hopefully not make the Revell kit look too terribly lame ;)

MMMMMM...... I can't wait. That's my kind of car to model. I love building those vintage racers.

Great Reference! I did this conversion about 10 years ago. I used the article in the old Motor Racing Models magazine. It has a few details this reference missed and this one has some the other missed. I have that issue if someone wants a scan of it.

Modelroundup.com says Feb 8th. They are ususally pretty good about dates. So very soon.

If you wanna scan it and e-mail it to me, I can host it on my Fotki along with my other Corvette reference material.

They also have the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti for only $12.90. The cheapest I've seen it is $19.99 at Hobby Lobby.

Wow, the other day it said "on sale Feb. 8th" and now it's listed in-stock. I've heard they were out.
Those Scagliettis at Hobby Lobby are frequently $10 during a sale. I see Model Roundup has the Alpina version of the BMW Z8 in stock as well.
Fighting my "no new kits in '06" urge so badly...

AAA Hobbies has the 612 Scaglietti in stock. It is now in red "normal US" box: red and more nearly a cube. I guess it is from Revell USA. The version in Hobby Lobby is the european flat blue box.
Autoweek reports that Bonhams auctioned a 2004 612 with 150 miles for $176,332.
The owner had paid about $250,000. That hurt.
Is it just me or does the new 599 GTB look like a Corvette?

Yeah, I saw pics somewhere that the US box was out. It's probably an improvement over the Euro box which is a royal PITA to get the contents in/out of. Then again, Revell may have squirted it in their new soft plastic that won't hold up to automotive paints. That's the latest scandal in the industry, the bad plastic.
The 612 Scag is so wrong that it's not got the usual cachet; seems depreciation is the same as most boring cars. Sad. I'll bet the 599GTB may suffer the same phenomenon. Ferrari needs an enema (or colostomy) in their styling departments. You'd never have believed in a previous generation that Bentley would be eating their lunch.
Yes, the 599 does have a lot of Corvette in it's flanks. As well as Supra, Eclipse...the wheels are atrocious, the side vents strange...some elements are cool but overall it's proof that Ferrari is on the slippery slope. Overall the Corvette (in Z06 trim) is a better looking car. And that's just not right with the world ;)
