But, I'm am desparate! We relocated to Atlanta awhile back. Still don't know our way around. There are constraints on my being able to drive. Any local know where I can find Plastikote primer (T-235 grey,T-237 white) in the Dunwoody area.

Welcome! I've seen you on Spotlight's board, I haven't posted there in several years. BTW I'm also working on an Astro I model :D Saw the 1:1 a year ago at the Amelia Island concours d'elegance. This past weekend I finally got the rear canopy to properly close, I had to ditch the pins/receivers from the basic kit and make my own. Now I need to rummage thru my parts box for better tires.

Michael's arts/crafts/hobbies carries the Plastikote primers. There's a Michael's on Mt. Vernon near Perimeter Mall, and I've seen the paint at their Northlake and Alpharetta stores.

Thanx. I had seen Micheal's as place to get it on Plastikote's web-site. When I called the MT. V store, they said they didn't sell it. Looks like I'll have to get over there.
Store people are seldom right.LOL
The Astro I didn't disassemble well. I have some repairs to do. Especially where someone cut the floor pan out and rigged it back in. I am going to do do the best I can to get to a point where I can pull a mold from it. Just got a "Flying Dutchman" that I want to get a mold off of too.

By the way, I have some pics (including Amelia Island) at my Fotki. You've probably seen them if you searched the web though.

I would suspect they have it, considering it's supposed to be available at all the stores.

The Astro I is a weird model; to build it correctly you pretty much have to glue the front part of the body to the lower body, and modify the interior piece to slide in from the back; I cut the front wheel housings from the inner piece and glued it w/the top/bottom of the body. I also had to detail and glue the front lower lamps in place; I'll have to mask them when I paint the car. Thankfully the glass glues in from outside, and that other than the re-engineering of the assembly to avoid a parting line between the body halves, it's a simple model.

I have photos of the car in my Fotki album, starting on page 7. There are more pics later on pages 11/12 when the GM handler opened it up.

I think part of the issue with the folks at Michael's is that it's relabled under a different product name. Still made by plasti-kote but maybe not T-235 or 237.

Best bet is to do just what Rob say's, go look for yourself. They probably have just what you need.

You may be right; someone recently saw the primer and it was relabeled. It still says "sandable lacquer thinner" so I think it's just a different package for non-auto parts stores. Plastikote certainly isn't as easy to find as it used to be.

Good news. Just got back from run to Michaels. They did have the primer. Different # but same lacquer primer in grey and white. It was labeled Plastikote. So the guy on the phone was wrong. This was recommended by a friend that does alot of painting. (Motorcycles, etc. Even custom paint your model for you- for a price.) Now maybe I'll finish something. Thanx ZZ & Eric!

Sounds good; I haven't had to buy any lately and the last time I bought it the can looked the same as the stuff I used to find at Wal Mart. It's easier on plastic than Duplicolor. Glad you found it!

You guys are both ill. A good thing. I have a couple Astro 1's if you need to make molds :) Charger III as well. Either will look cool on Daytona Transport/Ramcharger Transporter. I always wondered how it'd pull a load with an OHC 6 :D
