Kevin, speaking from experience, do yourself a favor and go to one of the ACME meetings. You'll be hooked. There's a great bunch of folks that attend and they will make you feel very welcomed and comfortable. If you're involved in the forms like Scale Auto or Automotive forums you'll get to meet a few of the people you see on there.

I went to my first meeting about 4 years ago this coming July and I was nervous about showing my models to other people, but they made me feel so comfortable, I went almost every Sunday after that unil I moved to Florida. It was one of the best things I did, hobby related, and just being around those folks and having the ability to learn from of some them helped me take my model building to a higher level. Not to mention the friends I made!
