Great color combo! And the stock wheels look good when it's lowered down like that...the ride height on the kit OOB is pretty awful LOL. You're friend is going to love this model.
I had fun w/them, wish they'd done better w/the headlights/foglights/taillights and the fit of some components, but whatever...this is the only GTO out there, and the only one we'll get.

I love the blue color and the paint finish is great. I agree with Bob, the repaint/wash of the wheels and lowering of the car really helps the stock wheels look much.... much better.

Thanks guys!!!!
Matt,
We shall see......:D as far as 2 cars.... the Firebird I built was a gift to my Brother in law in Alaska... they were here for Christmas.... I started it on a Wed and finished it that Sat (Christmas Eve) so you all know I busted it ot get it done!! I specifically told him to take it on the plane with him..... well they didnt... My mother in law mailed it.... and guess what....
PIECES....................... Never again....
Thanks guys......
Bob,
I ordered another drift kit... I think with some careful paint matching up front I could atleast get the front end reworked like the drift car...... sparse the interior, add a rollcage and use a set of wheels from the Tuner eclipse kit and build a "close" version of Millen's 2004 car....
Somebody has to do it!!!

Looks really good. I've never done a Polar Lights kit. Are they about the same as a Lindberg or better?

Mike, they're not the greatest kits in the world due to being designed as snap kits. They are however full-detail, but some pieces are a bit cheesy. Most annoying is the way they designed the headlights and foglights; making the parts snap-fit killed any semblance of proper detailing, so you have to spend time on them w/a Dremel and a skilled hand w/foiling and painting to make them look prototypical. The fit of the hood to the front bumper, and fit of the bumpers is a bit tricky.
None of those problems slowed me down from building three variations of the GTO kit, it's the only kit out there and it can be made to look very good, as Dave's model proves. Since they're $8 apiece when Hobby Lobby has a sale, they're a great value. It's now available unpainted and cheaper in an AMT box.
If you like the GTO you definitely have the skills to do it right. Generally all modern Polar Lights kits are like this one. It's up to the builder to detail it to a level that nobody notices the minor shortcomings the basic kit has. The plus side is they all seem fun to build.

It's a shame there isn't a better kit of the GTO. They are certainly nice cars. I guess this is a curbside kit too.

Not curbside. It includes engine and chassis detail, and the exhaust and some other details are different whether you get the '04 or the '05 version. It's a good kit w/a few cheesy details that you need to deal with, but they certainly aren't deal-killers. At 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of a good Tamiya kit one can live w/doing a few more tricks to get it looking right. You can see right here how good it looks built.
