Heres the first thing I've ever made on the CNC mill. I drew up my control arm and then wrote the program for it. This is just the mockup piece. The actual control arm will be two halves, and machined in brass instead of aluminum. Tomorrow I will mill off the back so the A-Arm will be seperate.

It was milled out of 6061 using a 1/8" four flute HSS endmill. Then surfaced with a 12mm four flute HSS end mill. Thanks for looking!

That is neat! Is that a hme CNC mill , or do you have access to commercial equipment?

Scott, the mill is Sherline outfitted with a Denford CNC Controller, and stepper motors. I use it at school. It will definately come in handy.

Heres is the almost complete product. Still needs more polishing, and I've still got polish stuck around the sides. Oops.

That's awesome work Matt. I have access to 3D solid modeling myself but I don't have access to machine shop equipment and certainly don't have any home equipment. Maybe one day. I use CATIA v4 at work. We also have v5 and at home I have a free version (no longer available) of Pro E Desktop Express Lite, a pain to use compared to CATIA v4 although there are some nice features. It's just that I learned CATIA when I was at Lockheed Martin. I lived in Marietta, that's how I cam to be a member of ACME. Now I'm at Cessna and using the same CAD. That was one of the factors that helped me get the job and I was away from CATIA for 5-1/2 yrs. Like riding a bike, just hopped back on although I was a little rusty at first.
